This Limited Whiskey was a product of COVID. This project started life as a pair of empty Catoctin Creek Rye and Knob Creek Rye Barrels. Those Empty Barrels were filled with a 4 Fruit, double yeast, double beer Fudree from Right Proper Brewing in Brookland, DC. 1 year later the beer was emptied from the barrels, Sagamore distillery was looking for experimental barrels to finish thier Rye Whiskey in. These two Barrels were selected. From what Michigan Liquors understands sagamore intended to finish the whiskey for 2 months but lost track of the barrels on the farm. Michigan Liquors tried the barrels at 100 proof 18 months into the ageing. Michigan Liquors worked hard to secure this Limited Fruited Sour finished Rye Whiskey. During the selection process the decision was chosen to proof down to 93 proof (AKA Blanton's Proof). This was selected to show the bright fruit from the sour beer while also showing the rye whiskey. After Everything was bottled the final Product aged over 7 years. 5 years in new Oak Barrels and over 2 years in Sour Ale Casks.
